Pastor Josue Lopez

James 2:15-16 says, “If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,’ and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that.” Josue was under deep conviction that the Gospel of Jesus was more than just words, it required action.

In 1962, Josue met an American Christian who was helping a Mexican sister in the Lord in Juarez. She was caring for homeless children in a small shelter on the Hill. His name was Herb Hatfield and her name was Maria de Jesus Gonzales.

Maria was a special woman of God who took Jesus’ words seriously by faithfully and unselfishly serving the destitute and needy in Juarez. This included the unattended children of single mothers who worked across the border in El Paso. In 1963, Josue and Herb began building a children’s home on the property, which eventually included four acres (two hectors) that housed the shelter for the children, a school, the church, and other ministries through the years.

Having been in operation close to 60 years now, Hogar de Niños Emmanuel has established its own legacy in Juarez as a place of refuge and hope for children and their families that are without hope in the world. LACCF support this ministry and the work of the Lord in Mexico and all of Latin America.

Our prayer is that all will come to know God and the power of His love.
