I first began as a child sponsor with Emmanuel Children’s Home in 2015. I knew that it was a calling but at the time simply thought of it as giving. In the years since then, God has taught me it is far more than just a one-sided transaction. Through interactions with the children, either through letters or visiting the Home itself, I’ve been able to understand more about what happiness really is and how God works in all of our lives. To see genuine joy regardless of circumstance shows just how much God cares for all of us. Sponsorship is not simply about giving, it is about cultivating relationships that will last eternally. Seeing that firsthand is something I would recommend to everyone. You will come away changed.

A visit to Emmanuel is a life changing event. The Home has nothing that is especially impressive. It’s all about the children. They have so very little yet they exhibit so much happiness. Their singing is so joyful. They sing their hearts out. They are a bunch of cheerful, loving, responsive children who have taught me to look at life differently.

I love that I have been able to be a part of child sponsorship these last eight years. These kids and Emmanuel have changed my life. They have shown me who God is and they have exemplified his strength, joy, grace, and mercy. I have learned how to love others better because of my relationships at Emmanuel. I love that I have a connection and relationship with the kids that I sponsor. They are not just a face in a picture they are people who I know, who I love, and who I get to see all throughout the year.
